Art Workshops

Classes are small and all students must follow covid guidelines. All supplies are included with our introductory workshops. Join our email list to be first to find out about new classes.

Children's Classes

Mona Lisa Mornings (age 6-12)

Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-12pm

Introductory price: $25.00 per class (+tax) inc. all supplies

Run by members of Brush with the North’s artist team. Tuesdays will focus on learning painting and drawing techniques that will help junior artists further develop their skills through fun projects.

Thursdays will be more craft based and suitable for all artistic levels and a fabulous creative outlet for your junior artist.

Requirements: Masks to be worn, sunscreen, water bottle

When weather allows, classes will be held outside.

Perspective Colour Wheel Project

Using a push pin and string to draw the night sky cityscape with the correct perspective in a circle. .Each building is painted according to the colour wheel.

Paint a Quote Board

Students will learn about controlling brushstrokes and different hand drawn lettering styles. These skills will be used to create a unique painted board with the quote of their choice.

Students will learn the basics of drawing and create a charcoal still life.

Liquid Paint Pouring and String Art

Create fun and funky abstract works by learning about liquid paint pouring and how to string pull paint.

Learn about landscape painting basics, colour mixing and composition basics by completing an acrylic painting project from our landscape references.

Homemade Paper Making

Students will learn a sustainable method of creating handmade paper sheets from recycled paper. The lesson will be a hands on paper pulp making project with customizable colours. (*Paper to be picked up following day)

Students will learn the basics of facial proportions and create an acrylic paint self portrait.

Students are encouraged to bring their handmade paper if they went to the Homemade Papermaking class. Students will learn how to create prints by making their own stamps and using nature to create interesting compositions.

Stained Glass Suncatcher

Monday August 2 & Tues August 3 7:00-9:30 

(for beginners and second level)

Introductory price: $75.00 (+ tax) inc. all supplies

Learn the basics of copper foil stained glass. Your first project will be to create a sun catcher where you will learn about the safety of handling stained glass, how to score glass, grind, foil, and solder. Once you have these basic skills down, you are capable of taking on larger projects and developing your skills. 

Requirements: Masks to be worn.

Glass Etching with Stained Glass Frame

Monday August 9 & Thurs August 12 7:00-9:30

(for beginners and second level)

Introductory price: $75.00 (+ tax) inc. all supplies

Learn the basics of etching on glass using etching compound and then create a stained glass frame using copper foil and solder. Your first project will be a small framed piece suitable to hang in a window. Once you have these basic skills down, you are capable of taking on larger projects and developing your skills.

Requirements: Masks to be worn. Some experience in cutting glass is helpful, but not required.

Stained Glass Project 

Monday August 23 & Thurs August 26 7:00-9:30

Take your glass cutting skills to a new level and create a unique piece. Details to come shortly.

Requirements: Masks to be worn. Some experience in cutting glass suggested.


Felting 

Sunday August 22  10:00-2:00 

Introductory price: $85.00 (+tax) inc. all supplies and lunch

Treat yourself with our felting class where you will create 2-4 felted pieces including wall hangings and 3-dimensional sculpture. This workshop also includes a special treat — a specialty sandwich from Sunrun Café and one of their feature desserts.
